On December 6th...

I promised to keep you updated on my progress VerisysePhakic Intraocular Lens procedure...

Things have been going well. Recovery has been longer than planned. Instead of getting my stitches out two weeks ago the doc was still adjusting for my astigmatism. I am hoping that today is the day. I am very anxious to see the world through my eyes.

I went for a run yesterday morning. The air was cool and crisp and I ran without my corrective eye glasses the doc gave me while my eyes were healing. It was amazing to feel the cool wind on my face and wind in my eyes. I was able to see clear enough to get around and it felt amazing. Like noted in a previous blog entry - if you were not born with any vision challenges you cannot relate to my world. Having the lenses placed into my eyes is a life changing experience for me - I am so thankful for my surgeon for exposing me to this treatment. He had mentioned to me that he became a surgeon to help people like me. There are everyday infections people get but then there are life changing procedures that truly bring tears to the patients eyes because they know their world is a better place because that doc committed himself to serving others. I really am truly grateful...what a great life...

I will update later today whether all the stitches were removed...until then CREATE A Great Day! Shelley
