Poker…Not Just A Game!

You can exercise your mind and enhance your intellectual skills by playing strategy games like Texas Hold ‘Em!

With Facebook and the launch of Zynga poker many more people are being introduced to this great sport with so many benefits…. Since July 2007 over 36,000,000 people have played Zynga Poker! Wow!

The well-known benefits of a regular poker game for adults apply to kids as well: cementing friendships, acquiring social skills, developing critical thinking and honing interpretive and analytical skills. Instead of playing Monopoly or Pictionary…Texas Hold ‘Em is a staple in many households these days for family game night.

Memory plays a large part in learning the rules of poker, the ranks and suits of the cards and the order of hands, and recalling how players have played certain hands in the past.

Did you know Walter Reed Army hospital uses poker to help rehabilitate our returning soldiers that are recovering from brain trauma injuries? That is good stuff!

There's also the role poker has played in the life of Bill Gates, In his book, The Road Ahead, Gates outlines clearly how important poker games were to him during his four semesters at Harvard. It's at the card tables he met Steve Ballmer, now the CEO of Microsoft, who called their company's original business plan "basically an extension of the all-night poker games Bill and I used to play back at Harvard." Of the game, Gates says, "In poker, a player collects different pieces of information -- who's betting boldly, what cards are showing, what this guy's pattern of betting and bluffing is -- and then crunches all that data together to devise a plan for his own hand. I got pretty good at this kind of information processing."

There are many more people playing for fun than ever before…When people play for fun and entertainment more than money, when markets converge people make money…You are asking how??? …. Look what is going on now – poker home biz model, charity poker, social pub leagues, media converge (WSOP – on Television all day long) Facebook poker, family fun night, neighborhood poker nights…so much excitement, so many people learning everyday…the “Average Joe” can now profit from this “POKER” community –whether you are a poker player or not you have the opportunity to make a fortune!…You cannot profit from Zynga, Poker Stars or Full Tilt but you can with PTN…Visit THE POKER TRAINING NETWORK (www.talkpokertoday.com ) to find out more…

Work From Home and Get Paid To Play Poker - How great Is That!?

After working in the MLM/Network Marketing Industry for over 12 years, I have seen many opportunities come my way but nothing as unique as this one. Poker and MLM collide to bring the home based business to a new dimension. How many people do you know that play poker? Even if you don’t, I 'm sure you know a handful.

Before I go any further, I want to disclose something to you. I am a founding affiliate for the Poker Training Network. I will also be honest – I did not know how to play poker before I was introduced to PTN but I saw the potential of earning from the industry that intrigued me.

Texas Hold ‘em is becoming one of the fastest growing sports. Think about if you were the first in the car industry. How about having the first casino in Vegas or the first to open a daycare in your town? For the first time ever, playing poker online and network marketing are joining forces. According to the Poker Training Network website, the system uses proven technology enhanced learning system methods that are normally used by universities. PTN has an extensive library of online poker training modules, and live training for the newest and most advanced online poker players.

This is a business for anyone. Poker Training Network provides training for poker players of all levels, from beginners to pros. Their products are web based programs, which means no shipping, and instant delivery. Even if you don't play poker, the skills you'll learn from the online training will make you an expert in no time! Wouldn’t it be great to gather with a few friends to play some cards? I'm not talking about your typical “HOME PARTY” business, like many of you are familiar with – this is just fun!

With over 300 million poker players worldwide and growing, this is an opportunity of a lifetime for anyone looking for some extra money. Poker is recession proof! No matter how bad the economy gets you can always find a group of people willing to get together for a game.

Poker is fun, exciting and it stimulates your mind. It is a game played in family rooms, casinos, retirement homes, pool clubs just about anywhere – for this reason poker is the game of choice for thousands of people.

PTN is a program every serious or casual poker player needs if they want to win, and with this exploding growth, totally recession proof, you want to get positioned as quickly as possible. We're a growing team. We will support you with all your efforts to earn huge residuals.

Is the PTN product worth the price regardless of the income opportunity? Every good player works on his game. A golfer, basketball player, chess player and so on. To improve poker skills, some people read books, some use online tools, some go to online training programs like PTN.

Shelley Kimberly is an author in The Power Of Mentorship book series with Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn and Bob Proctor. She is a proven leader in the Network marketing industry and she establishes viable, sound business partnerships one association at a time. She can teach you the skills to grow a successful Poker Training Network Business.

Montel Williams talks about his recent visit with the recovering soldiers at the Walter Reed Hospital.

He talked about how Walter Reed Army Medical Center uses poker to assist soldiers, suffering from brain trauma problems.

They use it because poker analytically puts the brain back in order. It helps soldiers re-socialize, do critical thinking, and do step thinking. They use poker every Friday to rehab the soldiers.

When Montel found out more about the way poker is being implemented, he decided to take action. He got in touch with the President of the USO, a $290,000,000 non-profit organization. In fact, the USO is the only foundation authorized by the USA Congress. The President of the United States is the honorary President of the non-profit-organization. He met with the functioning President of the USO to discuss the Poker Training Network and his affiliation, well…

The USO signed an agreement with Poker Training Network (PTN) to put on the biggest fund raising affair of the century and it’s occurring first on the Internet, finishing live in Washington, DC this fall. This
is the biggest fund raiser the USO has ever put together.

Congressmen, Senators, and many other key United States officials will play in this Charity Affair. Plan on this being a major media focused event. USO and Poker Training Network banners will be everywhere. The Senior VP representing the USO, an Air Force 3 Star General, plans to travel throughout the country with Monte Williams advertising this event. This is HUGE!

To be affiliated with this type of giving can only make one smile...get your spot with PTN today and start learning, earning and sharing the good with others...http://www.ptnoneworld.com/123

Soul...From Rain Nutrition...Antioxidant Powerhouse!

Here are a few new testimonials I wanted to share about Rain Nutrition's Soul...

I have suffered from fibromyalgia for years. While not much is known about its cause, even less is known about its treatment. Often my joints and muscles hurt so badly I could not even walk normally or leave the house. I have seen several doctors who have told me that the only thing I can do is take pain killers to manage the intense pain I suffer. A member of my family suggested I try the Rain Soul product. Thinking that I had nothing to lose, I began to take Soul and within a relatively short period of time I could not believe the results. My usage of prescription pain killers is a small fraction of what it was before. I have been able to manage my pain naturally without the addictive and negative side effects of narcotic pain killers. Best of all, I have been able to become active again and enjoy a much more normal and enjoyable life.

-Christy B.

As I have become older, I have developed rheumatoid arthritis. My whole life I have been active and enjoyed doing things with my hands. As my condition worsened, the joints in my hands and wrists have become so painful that normal activities are sometimes impossible. It is difficult to imagine the frustration I have felt as I have worked with doctors to treat my condition. I have been told that there is not much that can be done, and that really the only thing I can do is take prescription anti-inflammatory medicine and other types of pain killers. While those treatments help to a degree, I am worried about the long-term effects their side effects may have on my health. A few months ago, I was introduced to Rain Nutrition and its product, Rain Soul. I can't believe what has happened. My inflammation and pain in my affected joints is much improved. Even my emotional and psychological state is better knowing that I can manage my arthritis with the help of such an incredible natural product.
Thank you Rain Nutrition!
-Karen B.

Women and Business...Focusing - Staying On Task

"This is a fantastic time to be entering the business world, because business is going to change more in the next 10 years than it has in the last 50." Bill Gates

Business is going to change - it already has. The percentage of people working from home is on the rise. Many people have multiple streams of income - they work a day job at an office and have a business they are passionate about that they work from home in the evenings and weekends -which hopefully, one day will let them fire their bosses and have the freedom to work from home forever...unless you are one of those rare people who likes to work for someone else that makes your rules - you can keep commuting to your office each day!

Back to following your passion and realizing your dreams by starting your own business...You are all excited about starting your new venture...now you have some goals written down and a plan of action (from previous post)...Remember, no one can predict the outcome of even the most passionate, well planned business. But if you give it reasonable time and effort you will hopefully be rewarded for taking action. If you give up too soon, then all your planning and time will just blow up in your face. Make sure you give it your all - put the effort into your business. Remember, you can only reap as much reward based on the amount of effort you have put forth...

You may often get in a rut - especially working from home. It sometimes gets hard to stay on task and keep motivated. You must surround yourself with positive affirmations and other things that help motivate and drive you to complete your tasks. Examples could be keeping a vision board right next to your work area, placing pictures of your kids near your computer monitor to glance at while you are working, listen to motivational CD's or uplifting music while you are working (I like Jim Rohn - he tells it like it is)...whatever your vice might be, make sure you have it close to you for those times you just need a good kick in the pants!

Other tips that might help you stay motivated and on task...

(1) Get Busy - follow-up with your prospects. There is nothing more invigorating then getting in the trenches and closing deals.

(2) Get some exercise - physical activity boosts your adrenalin and gets your brain juices flowing.

(3) Drink water - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate - This keeps things working good inside and keeps you from overeating. You might think you are hungry but your body is actually telling you to water it!

(4) Smile - yes while sitting by yourself smile for 17 seconds...IT ACTUALLY WORKS!...

“In the same way that there is not an instant wanted thing manifesting in your experience, there is not instant unwanted thing happening in your experience. It takes some adapting to vibrations. If you’ve managed to hold anything, wanted or unwanted, for 17 seconds — there is a coalescing of thought that takes you a little closer to the vibration of whatever you are turning your attention to. Those 17 second increments, are not discernible. And that’s why, when you get into that place, it feels like instant manifestation. Just like when you get into that negative place, it feels like instant manifestation. It’s like, “Where did that come from? Seemed like it just sort of snuck up on me,” instead of snuck up over a long time.”
Expressed by Abraham-Hicks

(5)
Talk to some of your team members or your business partner if you have one...This will help you refocus and regroup.

(6)
Be Realistic - "Your Life" will often get in the way of you completing a task. ..what I mean - you might get a call form the school nurse telling you your child needs tom come home, your car might break down, your computer might blow up. Find a way to stay calm in these situations. Change your mind set knowing you will make time to get these tasks done - but make sure you come back and complete what you started!

(7)
The key thing for any business to grow is to TAKE ACTION EVERYDAY! I do not mean - clean your desk off I mean talk to people who want your product or service and start building relationships and closing deals!

Women and Business...MLM Frustration - Maybe You Need A Change...

Do you know what I mean when I say MLM frustration? The quote below is relevant to what I am talking about...

"After you've done a thing the same way for two years, look it over carefully. After five years, look at it with suspicion. And after ten years, throw it away and start all over." ~Alfred Edward Perlman, New York Times, 3 July 1958

When I relate the quote to those in the industry that are "frustrated" with their position at this moment it makes me sad for so many....Trust Me - I have been there. With my first experience in MLM someone once told me the only way you could fail in this business is to quit. I took that to heart and was with my first company for 7 years! What I did not realize - being passive and not following what the leaders were doing is the same thing as quitting. I just figured as long as I stuck it out and did my own thing I would be a success. I wish someone would have read me the quote above 12 years ago - it would not have taken me those 7 years to get it together in the industry. I finally did see the bigger picture and found what I was passionate about and made a change - THANK GOODNESS!

Start listing the attributes of the best possible solution to your current situation. When you have a clear picture of what the solution looks like, then you are prepared to go out and find it or create it. Maybe the company YOU THOUGHT, was the best thing for you two years ago is not now...so many people are scared to re-evaluate their situation in the mlm industry. Maybe you jumped into the first opportunity you ever saw. You liked the people and you liked the potential of making money from home but the reason you jumped in was it was the first one you were introduced to. You had no clue there were several thousand MLM companies in the world.

Now that you have been in business a few years - not really with the company that fits your personality, needs, interests you feel stuck...you feel stuck because you met so many wonderful people on the way and you cannot imagine leaving them. But what you have to look at is the BIGGER PICTURE. If they are your true friends in this industry, they would be happy for you and stick by any decision you made.

Another thing to bring into account of your frustration in the industry is this question...Are you not succeeding with this company because you are not passionate about what you are sharing with others? Is that your reason for not taking the action steps needed to succeed? If that is the case...you need to look at what you are passionate about, write down your dreams and set some goals. Then do a search of a company that meets your needs. Yes, some people in your current company will be upset that you are leaving but you need to do what is best for you - your true friends, like noted above, will stick by you!

Think about how much time you spend doing the things you might hate (laundry, cleaning toilets, etc...) Now think about how much time a person spends re-evaluating their current situation and feeling they are in a rut...Most people hardly spend five minutes - instead most people spend the time just worrying about what they are frustrated about but will not consider changing their current situation and taking the time to evaluate what needs to be done to change it. Why not take some time for yourself? Go get a pen and paper right after you read this post. Jot down some things you are passionate about and find out what you can do to change your current situation!

Women and Business...What Is Holding You Back From Starting?

I am going to start a series of posts related to this topic...

I have talked to a lot of women over the years about the idea of them starting up a business from home. They get all excited about the thought of adding to the household income but something seems to be holding many of them back from starting…It could be time, money, confidence, support, or all four. If this sounds like you then this could be your day to change your mindset and believe that this idea – or dream of having your own business can become your reality. I want to help you get focused and start living your dreams.

If you get involved with a business solely based on making income then I am not sure you will succeed. Many do but for the masses you need to be passionate about what you are doing. Any sales position where you are sharing a service or product with another individual, I feel, is 90% relationship based to make the sale – emotions must be tied to the sale for someone to want to know more about what you are offering. Lets be honest…we all want to make money – but you have to have the passion to succeed and you have to have a mindset that what you are sharing will make a difference to another person…remember people will not remember how much money you made in this world but how you made them feel…VERY POWERFUL statement to remember.

Trust me, I have made many mistakes on my road to success but, it is those mistakes where I learned adversity and perseverance and turned that energy into my success! I want you all to be excited about what the future holds for you. Stop doing the exact same things you did yesterday or you will never get ahead…

I have helped many women, also men, succeed in business. I have also watched many crash and burn because they gave up too quickly.

Here are a few things to help you on your road to success…

1. Identify your dreams – or in another way to state it …WHAT IS YOUR WHY? Make a vision board that shows your feelings, your wants and desires… Is it making enough money to travel the world? Is it making enough money to donate to your favorite charity? Or, is it making more money and getting more time freedom to be able to spend more time with your family? I cannot tell you what your why is…you need to figure that one out for yourself.

2. Think about what you are passionate about – For me it is health and wellness. I love helping others feel better. I am very much a people person.

3. Find a business that fits your passion – I found a Direct Selling company that meets my needs. Maybe it is selling cars or skydiving…great thing is we are all passionate about something…you can turn that something into a profitable income stream by helping others. For me Direct Selling was my vehicle of choice to achieve my dreams…there are hundreds of Direct Selling companies for you to choose from and the great thing about Direct Selling is you can start your home business for less than your daily visit for a month to Starbucks! Kind of crazy – but it is true!

4. Write down your daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly goals – not just where you want to be monetarily but your action goals as well – how many people will you talk to each day – how many presentations or samples will you share with others and so on…

5. Tell yourself that you believe in your business and this product and you believe it is a vehicle to manifest your dreams. If you do not have the confidence and the belief behind what you are sharing, then how will you be able to sell your widget to anyone else?

6. Read for 15 minutes a day - Feed your mind with uplifting materials - One of my mentors, Jim Rohn said, "The book you don't read can't help."

7. Focus on the positive behavior and have Gratitude. Please and Thank you are very important words – use them often.

One reason I chose to work from home is I want the flexibility to control my own schedule. If the kids get sick at school and need picked up I can go at the drop of a hat.

You do have to remember that going into any business when you are a full-time homemaker or as I say “Domestic Goddess,” requires much planning and juggling of the household responsibilities. One thing though, when your business starts rewarding you with a positive cash flow you can hire out some of the duties like housecleaning and laundry – unless those are things you dream about doing….

I think that is enough for today…I will be continuing on with this series of Women And Business in my next post…

16 Simple Tips To Feng Shui Your Bedroom....

Adapted from Feng Shui for Life, by Jon Sandifer (Inner Traditions, 2000).

Your bedroom is your ultimate inner sanctum where you are at your most vulnerable while you sleep and recharge your chi. From a yin/yang perspective, this is a more yin, quiet and peaceful environment; you need to feel protected and do not want distracting and powerful chi to disturb you. At the same time, there needs to be a good circulation of chi and plenty of fresh air available to recharge you.

Here are 16 tips to Feng Shui your bedroom. Make this all-important room a sanctuary:

1. Ideally, the bedroom should be as far away as possible from the front door, mirroring the practice of our prehistoric ancestors who did not sleep in the mouth of their cave.

2. On entering your bedroom, note where the windows are located. Chi tends to travel between the door and any windows, so avoid positioning your bed in line with this ‘”draught’” of chi.

3. Position your bed so that you can see the door from where you sleep. This gives you a deep sense of inner security.

4. If it is feasible, position your bed as far away from the door as possible.

5. Avoid sleeping with your head close to a window as your chi will dissipate through the window and make you feel more tired on awakening.

6. If you have a bathroom, toilet or shower leading off your bedroom, make sure that the toilet door is always shut while you are asleep.

7. To help you protect your own chi while you are asleep, to internalize it and recharge it, make sure you have a strong, stable headboard. Chi energy enters and exits the body through the feet, hands and the top of the skull. Having a solid “mountain” behind you while you sleep is far more beneficial than a cold, blank wall or worse, the cutting chi of an ornate brass bedstead.

8. If you sleep with another person, note the position of your bed relative to the wall that it is up against. Is it equidistant? In the middle of the wall? This is vital in a relationship as it gives both individuals who share the bed equality in the relationship. A shared bed crammed into the corner of a room, is giving more freedom of chi to the individual on the open side whereas the partner will literally and symbolically feel up against a wall.

9. Make sure all bedside tables have rounded edges and not square to prevent cutting chi being focused towards the occupants. If two sleep in the bed, ensure matching beside tables on either side for added stability and protection in the relationship.

10. Ceiling beams above the bed are a feng shui nightmare. They can be a source of cutting chi and the beams carry a tremendous load, and this pressure is focused into the beams generating chi which continues downwards, placing direct pressure on you while you sleep. Some tips:
Paint the beams; drape fabric over the beams; hang bamboo flutes 2-3 inches below the beam to soften the load (the flutes are hung at a 45-degree angle to the beam with the mouthpiece downwards).

11. If you sleep with another person, make sure your bed is symbolic of this relationship. Beds that are rickety or likely to fall part speak volumes about the state of the relationship.

12. Given that the bedroom is a more yin environment, the lighting that you choose needs to reflect this. Soft lighting is ideal. Avoid having ceiling lamps right directly over your bed.

13. Pastel colors are ideal.

14. Avoid sleeping with your image visible in a mirror. the worst scenario of all is a mirror at the foot of your bed.

15. Place something beautiful that inspires you where you first look in the morning.

16. Pay attention to what is under your bed. Keep the space clear and get rid of any unwanted items there.

We are in trouble... The population of this country is 300 million...

160 million are retired.

That leaves 140 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school..

Which leaves 55 million to do the work.

Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government.

Leaving 20 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama Bin-Laden.

Which leaves 17.2 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 15.8 million people who work for state and city Governments...that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are,

Sitting on your bum...At your computer, reading jokes..

Nice. Real nice.

Hope you enjoyed...a friend emailed this to me...working from home reading jokes in between work seems to have perks...I got to laugh when I read it! Hope you did too :)

Some Stress Free Tips For 2010...

Take time to regenerate/refocusYou should include this step in anything you do, because it is so important. I am much more efficient if I am refreshed. So that means try to sleep 7-8 hours a night, so that your head is clear when you work and you will end up getting more done in less time.

Meditate – whether it is for 5 minutes or 60 minutes/day – this will also help you clear your head so you can be more focused to get your goals completed.

Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.

What other people think of you is none of your business. Think about it. Stop worrying about what other people think about you and what you do. You will get extremely stressed if you are worrying about whether other people approve of your actions. Do what you feel is right for you and enjoy it (so long as you don't hurt anyone else in the process).

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

Pursue Your Goals - The absence of goals in our lives, or more specifically avoiding to pursue our goals, makes us feel like we are stuck and ineffective. The pursuit of goals in our personal lives, in our relationships, or with our careers, is the difference between having a mediocre life or a life full of passion and enthusiasm. Pursue your goals and watch your happiness soar. Make a Vision Board Or Treasure Map (A vision board is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of your dreams and desires.)

Compensation – Everyone wants to be compensated monetarily what they are worth. If you need to take some risks and focus on generating multiple income streams then DO IT. If you do nothing over the next year where will you be a year from now?

Meaningful career and day to day life – I think many get a bit more introspective as they get older. They want to feel like they are not just going to a job to do the same monotonous things each day. Find something that will make a positive impact on society whether it is something you can do work related or if it does not fit in the realm of your work duties maybe volunteer. Helping others is very gratifying.

Savor Every Moment - To be in the moment is to live in the moment. Too often we are thinking ahead or looking ahead to the next event or circumstance in our lives, not appreciating the “here and now.” When we savor every moment, we are savoring the happiness in our lives.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Make Time To Play - Responsibilities should be balanced with play. For many people, life is a burden simply because they have forgotten how to have fun. If you are having fun that means you are laughing and smiling. Trust me smiling and laughing is one of the best things you can do in life – especially sharing it with others!

Be Grateful - How many times do you say the words “thank you,” in a day? How many times do you hear these same words? If you are doing the first thing, saying the “thank you,” the latter will naturally happen. Learn to be grateful and you will be open to receive an abundance of joy and happiness. If you feel your life is so bad but you are able to see, touch, smell, taste and move everyday be grateful for that – many people do not have the use of all of their senses and they are grateful for what they have - no pity parties allowed!

Get movingThis is one of my favorite stress relievers - Do something each day to be active — walk, hike, play a sport, go for a run, do yoga. It doesn’t have to be grueling to reduce stress. Just move. Have fun doing it. The best thing is you can do this by yourself, with a buddy or with your kids. JUST START MOVING!

Whether you invest in Real Estate, You do consulting outside of your regular job – or better yet have a group of people consulting for you that work for you, invest in the stock market or do what I do with Direct selling, multiple income streams is making your money work for you when you are doing something else.

Here is the tidbit of what I do…One of the easiest ways for many people to stop working for others or to add to their bottom line in conjunction with what they are doing now is to begin their venture part-time in what is today known as direct selling. It requires very little cash outlay, usually about $100 to $500 dollars. Most average around $200.00.

Direct selling companies have all the support tools, management, legal, product, and customer service systems in place. All they need is someone willing to educate the public about their product or service. They allow you to create multiple streams of income with a balance between upfront cash for now and residual income for the long haul.
