Grandpa Archie Levinson - January 10, 1916 - January 8, 2009

Grandpa you passed away last night...we will miss you!

You lived a fulfilling life traveling around the world with the love of your life Grandma Mickey! Your legacy will live on with your 5 grandchildren and your 11 great grandchildren.

We all love you and grandma so much - we already miss you both!

You loved your synagogue - rarely missed a Shabbat service. If we wanted to find you on Saturday morning we knew you were a shull. You sure loved your time at the Brighton Beach Club in Brooklyn, NY - You were the best paddle ball player of your time. Everyone knew you as the guy with the pins, hats, a fruit lover and most of all the BOW TIES! You could have taught a course about all your bow ties! You were an expert in the field of sales - because of that you were a great fundraiser. You had a special place in your heart for Boys Town Jerusalem (BTJ) . BTJ was established in 1948 to provide a home and education for young immigrants to the newly- created State of Israel. Boys Town Jerusalem has become one of Israel's largest and most respected educational institutions. You raised so much money to help support BTJ - it was truly appreciated and I know you loved to help.

Grandpa Archie...like I mentioned, Boys Town Jerusalem meant so much to you. I know you and Grandma Mickey traveled to Israel more than a dozen times. You were there for the Bat Mitzvah of one of your grandchildren as well. Actually, your two boys and all of your grandchildren, including myself, were there for that event. I Cannot remember how old you were but I do remember that it was the first place you ever ate a piece of pizza! You must have been about 70! Here you lived in the place with the best pizza in the world - New York City and you traveled half way around the globe to try your first slice!

Back to Boys Town...you and grandma have been honored for your time and fundraising efforts with Boys Town.

Here you and Grandma are with a trophy which the Boys Town Jerusalem Volleyball team won in Israel's National Yeshiva High School Volleyball Tournament. Grandpa you were an instrumental part of raising funds for sports equipment including volleyballs for BTJ.

The photo above with you slicing the Challah was at the Brooklyn Friends Of BTJ 11th annual dinner. Grandpa you were the Co-Chair and you had the honor of reciting the Hamotzie blessing over the bread to begin the dinner. Grandpa you were Vice President of the Brooklyn Friends of Boys Town Jerusalem. You visited Boys Town in the summer of 1999. you and Grandma Mickey formally dedicated the "transplanted" Brooklyn Jewish Center - Rabbi Israel H. Levinthal Synagogue at BTJ.

Grandpa I almost forgot - your favorite treat in the entire world...Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies - Each night grandma would get you two cookies!

Grandpa I will miss you and I know you and grandma are together again in peace.
xoxo Shelley
